About the photographer:
Randy bought his first 35mm camera
when he was 15 years old. From that point on he
would shoot whatever he could, especially the outdoors.
Randy was a Boy Scout, and then a Scout Leader, studied
Architectural and Mechanical Drafting in High School, and
Engineering in University. A combination
which honed his interest in Nature, Architecture and machinery, an
influence you might detect in his photography.
Randy retired from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation after 35
years in radio and television broadcasting and teaching in various
Community Colleges in Ontario.
He is still a Scout Leader, and always takes his cameras on
outings with the Troop, whether hiking, camping or canoeing in the
backwoods of Northwestern Ontario, or on Lake Superior.
"Some of my best photographs are taken on Scouting events. We
tend to go where few people travel. We may not see another person
for a week at a time. Lakes like glass, rivers, rapids, water
falls, rare or common flowers, birds and animals in their natural
habitat. That is communing with Nature!"
Scenic Photography either requires long hours spent observing a scene in order to find the perfect light to take the picture, or you happen upon a "once in a lifetime picture" either of which suits a nature lover very much.
These photographs are offered for you to share in that special moment Randy experienced as he snapped the shutter.
